Beautiful Music

When Dave and I were getting married and we needed someone to provide music during the ceremony, there was no question who we were going to call.  Paula has her Doctorate in Musical Arts, and has such an amazing gift!  She was flawless at our wedding, and still plays for all occasions.  She needed some promotional photographs, and I really wanted to provide her with something DIFFERENT than other musicians I have seen (along with some traditional stuff).  So we met up at a local music shop, I setup my lighting (photo gear/explanation at the bottom of the post), and Paula provided some great music for the shoot.  Enjoy some of my favorites below, and if you are ever in need of amazing talent, you can contact Paul at pneihouse AT everestkc DOT net!

I added a little texture to this one — love the effect!

As many of you might have guessed, I used a 2-light setup for this shoot.  My main light was a basic Vivitar manual flash shooting through a white umbrella (set to 1/4 power) and my Canon 580 was setup as a separation/backlight to really pull her out of the background.  It also worked as a fill-light for some of the shots of her playing the piano, as well as being a hairlight for other poses.  It was set at 1/8th power, with no diffuser.  You can see it shining bright behind her in one of the shots above.  Both flashes were attached to Pocket Wizards, which let me move around freely.  FUN STUFF!
